Help for store owners

Suppliers and how orders get placed

CJ Dropshipping, AliExpress and Printify: what each does, and who places and pays for each order.

Checkout comes first

Checkout isn't open yet, so no store takes orders today. What follows is how orders work once it opens; the order code is built and being tested.

CJ Dropshipping

  • Import products from a CJ link, 3 credits each.
  • When a buyer pays, Pastefront places the order with CJ from Pastefront's own CJ account and pays CJ for it. You don't need a CJ account.
  • To cover that, each sale of a CJ product collects the supplier's cost and shipping for that order from the sale. The rest goes to your Stripe account.
  • Tracking numbers from CJ are added to the buyer's order page.
  • If something stops an order going to CJ, the order page in your dashboard says what happened and what happens next.

AliExpress

  • Import products from an AliExpress link, 3 credits each.
  • You place and pay for each order on AliExpress yourself. Pastefront shows you what to order and where to send it, but doesn't buy it for you.
  • Pastefront collects no supplier cost from AliExpress sales.
  • AliExpress gives no shipping cost through its API yet, so your margin on these products is shown before shipping.

Printify (print-on-demand)

Coming when switched on. You pick a product from Printify's catalog and upload a design you own. On Pastefront's Printify account, a product costs you Printify's production cost plus 25%, which Pastefront keeps, and orders are placed and paid by Pastefront like CJ's. On your own Printify account, each product costs 10 credits to make, orders go to your Printify shop, and Printify bills you directly.

Links from other sites

For a link from another site, you can ask CJ to find the same product. Asking is free. A CJ agent answers when they can, there's no set time, and they may not find it or may find a close lookalike, so check the draft before you sell it.
